About Thula & Bloom
The name “Thula”—[pronounced ‘too-la’] - a Zulu word meaning “be still”, “be quiet”—reflects our need to stop, and be still. “Bloom” celebrates growth, change, and the beauty of thriving. Together, Thula & Bloom is about creating moments of calm and connection, while nurturing your skin and supporting its natural ability to thrive.
At the heart of our brand is the protea – my favourite South African flower. The protea is a symbol of resilience, transformation, and beauty even in the face of adversity. For me, it represents not only my roots but also the spirit of Thula & Bloom: finding strength, flourishing through change, and embracing the natural cycles of renewal.
Thula & Bloom is also about conscious care – choosing with intention, using less, and wasting less. We don’t over-package or over-complicate. Instead, every balm, butter, and oil is crafted in small batches with honesty and care, designed to become part of your daily rituals without unnecessary excess. My vision is to expand beyond skincare, replacing the products we rely on every day with natural, sustainable alternatives – from household essentials to gentle pet care – so that every aspect of life can feel balanced, beautiful, and more in tune with nature.
Our products are:
Naturally formulated: using plant-based and wherever possible, organic ingredients.
Lightly scented: because we target sensitivities, we use either no added fragrance or subtle blends with essential oils. Many products carry the natural aroma of their core ingredients.
Mostly vegan: all formulations are vegan wherever possible, with the exception of products that contain beeswax.
Handcrafted in small batches: with each ingredient carefully considered for its benefit.
Safety-assured: every formula has been tested by myself and others before being independently CPSR-certified to confirm that its formulation, ingredients, and packaging are safe for consumer use and compliant with UK/EU cosmetic regulations.
While suitable for all skin types, our range is created with dry, sensitive, and maturing skin in mind. Each formula is menopause-aware, minimal on synthetics, and designed to do more with less—supporting your skin without overwhelming it. To complement our skincare, our soy and coconut candles—scented with essential oils—offer moments of reset and renewal.
For me, making these products is an act of creativity and care: less is more—simple formulations, elevated by the very best ingredients available. My skin has never looked or felt better, and I want customers to enjoy that same sense of calm, confidence, and comfort.
